ในตำนาน "พระพิราพ" คือ ร่างอวตารของพระอิศวร (หรือพระศิวะ) ในวงการนาฎศิลป์ยกย่องให้เป็น “บรมครูสูงสุด” เป็นที่เคารพยำเกรงมาก เพราะท่านมีฤทธิ์เดชมาก โดยการประกอบพิธีไหว้ครูของคนไทย ก็จะนิยมอัญเชิญพระพิราพเพื่อขจัดปัดเป่าสิ่งชั่วร้าย ขจัดอุปสรรคต่างๆ ขอพรให้เรื่องที่ปรารถนาให้สำเร็จลุล่วงไปด้วยดี

ตามความเชื่อในประเทศอินเดียเองก็มีการบูชาพระพิราพ แต่จะเรียกในนามที่ต่างออกไป หรือรู้จักในนาม “พระไภรวะ” มีความเชื่อว่า เมื่อเกิดทุกข์ภัยและโรคระบาดต่างๆ จะต้องบูชาเซ่นไหว้ ขอพรท่านเพื่อระงับดับทุกข์ หยุดโรคภัยต่างๆ บังเกิดความสุขสงบร่มเย็น รวมถึงปัญหาที่แก้ไม่ได้ ก็จะค่อยๆคลี่คลายด้วยตนเอง

การบูชาพระพิราพ เป็นดั่งการบูชาครูที่เก่งกาจทรงอานุภาพมาก สามารถขอบารมีท่านให้ช่วยคุ้มครอง ขจัดปัดเป่าสิ่งชั่งร้าย เจอปัญหาหรืออุปสรรคใดในชีวิต ก็สามารถขอพรให้ท่านช่วยขจัดปัดเป่าออกไป ระงับดับเคราะห์และไล่ทุกข์โศกโรคภัย

นอกจากนี้พระพิราพท่านยังเป็นผู้ประทานโชคลาภและความสำเร็จ ขอด้านธรุกิจค้าขาย การติดต่อเจรจา เลื่อนยศ เลื่อนตำแหน่ง เจริญก้าวหน้าในหน้าที่การงาน

In the legend "Phra Pirap" is another form of Shiva, in Thai Classical Dance Education he is regarded as the highest teacher and he is very respected among disciples because of his mighty power. One of the traditional ceremonies in Thailand is called “Wai Khru ceremony”, Thai people worship Phra Pirap to ward off evil, remove obstacles, and help every wish to be smoothly fulfilled.

According to beliefs in India, Phra Pirap is also being worshipped but it is called by a different name known as “Bhairava”. It is believed that when they have suffered, disasters and various epidemics occur then Indian people worshipped “Bhairava” to end the suffering of people, stop various diseases, and bring happiness and peace. Even unsolvable problems will gradually resolve itself.

Worshiping Phra Pirap is like worshiping the great teacher, asking for his power to help protect you, and eliminate and dispel evil things. For all of the obstacles that you have encountered in life, you can pray with Phra Pirap to help dispel them, remove misfortune, and stop suffering and disease.
