ประวัติความเป็นมาของพระนาคปรก

พระนาคปรก เป็นพระพุทธรูปปางประจำวันเสาร์ ที่มีคติความเชื่อกันว่า พุทธานุภาพพุทธคุณสูงส่ง ในอดีตโบราณาจารย์จะนิยมสร้างพระนาคปรกเป็นพระพุทธรูปบูชาขนาดใหญ่ ด้วยเนื้อศิลา เนื้อโลหะ ประกอบกับบางอารามมีพระพุทธรูปปางนาคปรก เป็นพระพุทธรูปศักดิ์สิทธิ์ประจำวัดก็มี สร้างเป็นพระพิมพ์ขนาดเล็กก็มี เพื่ออาราธนาพกติดตัวไปที่ต่างๆ ได้สะดวกขึ้นเพื่อปกป้องรักษา ปกป้องคุ้มกันภยันตรายให้แก่ชีวิต รวมทั้งเพื่อบรรจุกรุไว้ในสถูปเจดีย์หรือมงคลสถานต่างๆ จวบจนในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์

พระนาคปรก เชื่อกันว่าเป็นวัตถุมงคลที่ช่วยปกปักษ์รักษาผู้บูชาให้อยู่ในความสงบสุขและนำพาความเจริญรุ่งเรือง นอกจากนี้ พญานาค ยังถือเป็นเทพเจ้าแห่งทรัพย์และความมั่งคั่ง ทำให้ พระนาคปรก ไม่ว่าจะสถิตอยู่ที่ใด ก็ช่วยนำพาความรุ่งเรือง มหาโภคทรัพย์ ความอุดมสมบูรณ์ และเสริมดวงชะตาให้แก่ผู้บูชาได้อย่างดียิ่ง

"Phra Nak Prok" is the Buddha image associated with Saturday, revered for its immense spiritual power and blessings. In ancient times, master artisans commonly created large worship-sized Phra Nak Prok statues using materials such as stone or metal. Many temples house sacred Nak Prok Buddha statues as their central deity.

Additionally, small amulets depicting Phra Nak Prok were crafted for portability, providing protection and safeguarding against dangers. These amulets were also used for enshrining in stupas, chedis, or other sacred sites. This tradition has continued into the Rattanakosin period.
