1. ขั้นแรกให้เขียนชื่อ นามสกุล วันเดือนปีเกิดของตนเองที่เทียน ส่วนเวลาที่จุดนั้น จะจุดเวลาไหนก็ได้ ถ้าให้ดีคือจุดช่วงเวลาพระอาทิตย์กำลังขึ้น เป็นฤกษ์ยามแห่งแสงเงินแสงทอง แต่ครูบาฐากูรท่านกำชับมาว่า "ห้ามจุดในช่วงเวลาพระอาทิตย์กำลังตกดิน" คือช่วงเวลาประมาณ 18.00-19.00 น.

2. หากต้องการให้อานุภาพของเทียนส่งผลสูงสุด ช่วงแรกควรจุดเทียนชนิดนี้ให้ครบ 3 เล่ม ภายใน 1 เดือน หลังจากนั้นสามารถจุดได้ตามวาระโอกาสต่างๆตามความเหมาะสม
